Friday Nights

FRIDAY NIGHT INFO 2017/2018

Children will compete primarily on Friday nights in variety of events as determined by there age and earn points towards end of season awards.

Note U6′s are non comp until the new year.

Events can be found under the weekly program section of the website at the start of the season.

The whole evening is run by volunteers and parent helpers , sadly if we don’t have enough help then events will be cancelled.

Announcements will be made  at the start of the night to assist with the marshaling of the kids and then periodically to assist with the running of the night.

Children in the younger age groups ( 6 to 8 ) will generally assemble on the grass section between the javelin runway and discus cage in front of the canteen.

Older age groups will generally meet there age manager at there first event. The event list can be found online or in the display case near the canteen.

Age managers will mark off the kids and them take them in program order around the events and will require 3 additional helpers for these events.  It is good to cycle through the parents in the age group so all can learn.

We do ask that if you are not helping then stay on the outside of the track area and we do ask for particular care around the throws events ie please refrain from crossing the field at all times.

If you would like to help in general then see a committee member.

Approximate start and finish times for Friday nights program through  out the season. Finish times are impacted by athlete numbers , parent help , weather etc.

Please arrive 15 mins prior to the below times so you can assemble with your age group and be marked off.

Setup            4.30 pm anyone can help , if we start late it will be due to lack of help. 

U6-U9′s        5.30 pm start time , expected duration 1 to 1.5 hrs. 

U10-U17′s    6.15 pm start time , expected duration 2 to 2,5 hrs. Note in your high jump week you will start at  5.30 pm only if high jump is your first event noting U9′s to U11′s normally do high jump first. 

Pack up        8.30 pm anyone welcome to help.

HOUSE RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION

We are all volunteers , any form of abuse towards officials , age managers , children and other parents will be not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the venue.

Bullying of any description will not be tolerated and you may be asked to remove your child from the age group.

Please don’t drop your kids off and leave the track, it is not a child minding service and we may need to contact police in event your child doesn’t have a parent or caregiver within the facility at all times.

Please no ball games, scooters etc inside the complex, please watch your children at all times and make sure they are not climbing on the equipment such as high jump equipment, nets, soccer posts etc.

As we have throws events including Javelin, Shot Put , Discus etc you must observe care around these events and under no circumstances cross the field when these events are in progress.

Be mindful of runners on the track Please if possible ask children not to cross the track during the sprint races. Unless you have a parent helper or age manager vest, you will not be permitted inside the competition area.

Please no ” PRAMS ” inside the competition area and please watch the little ones in and around the track. No crossing of the track in the main straight or near the finish line and keep children on the outside of the fence.

We are thankfully an alcohol and smoking free venue.

While visitors from other clubs are permitted to compete you must pay a track entry charge at the canteen and provide your name & details at the large green shed. Visitors are permitted attend no more than 3 times in any given season.

Canteen services are available and run by the wonderful Mingara track staff, please help them by picking up all rubbish. Please don’t take equipment from the large green shed it does not belong to our club. We operate out of the smaller shed at the southern end of the track.
